Eating disorders AND disordered eating habits are prevalent in our strength-to-weight ratio sport... but can you tell the difference? Habits, unchecked and without intention, can lead to a full-blown disorder. . I have not had an eating disorder but I’ve certainly tested my relationship with food, treading the murky depths of disordered eating. I’ve had friends comment on my weight and I take their perspectives with a critical lens. It’s responsibility on both sides - community and individual. Trial and error showed which foods make me feel good for physical performance AND emotional pleasure 🍌🥬🥞🌮, which eating habits were sustainable and which ones weren’t 🙅🏻‍♀️ There are safe approaches to weight management and learning about one’s body. It takes, as @phorrizzler6514 says in his recent and well-written @climbingmagazine article, “vigilance, constructive feedback... and above all raw, naked honesty with ourselves”. . (Edited for clarity) Many people currently measure physical achievement by numbers on the scale and the grades we climb (just an observation, not saying that’s how it should be). But how can we factor emotional/mental achievement into our priorities as a community? It’s hard enough as individuals. We are more than our bodies - we are whole human selves, complicated and chaotic and worth it. YOU are worth it. Take care of yourself, all of yourself 💛💛💛 . Thank you @carolinelovesphotos for shedding Light on these discussions. There’s lots more to say about appearance, body image, confidence, support systems for young people, building healthy mental foundations - so this is just the start. I hope we can all share the stories that mean the most to us. . 📸 Some photos I didn’t post because I felt self-conscious about my body, but I’m a ball of muscle and damn proud of it!! Also, I love food 🥺🥺 . @thenorthface @organicclimbing @gnarlynutrition @scarpana @evn_cbd . #climbing #bouldering #lightdocumentaryfilm」2月6日 3時18分 - sheneenagins
