ミナさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ミナInstagram)「👰 Were you shocked to find out your bridal size? 👰 If you wear ready-to-wear (RTW) clothes in a size 10, you are usually a size 12 in bridal sizing. I’ve noticed bridal sizing running smaller than RTW sizing can be a bit confusing and disheartening to some and I want to share a few of my thoughts on the matter to maybe prevent someone feeling upset on their first day of trying on wedding dresses. ❤️ -I’m not sure why bridal sizing differs from RTW but sizing in general has changed. I believe it’s partly to do with the rising of fast fashion that is often made of stretchy fabrics, that provide more flexibility in sizing as one size actually fits several body shapes and sizes. Wedding dresses are usually made of woven fabrics that don’t have as much stretch in them which makes the sizes more fixed. -I've noticed a peculiar thing over the years. If you check a RTW brand’s size chart, you might notice that the size they recommend is one or two sizes bigger than what you usually buy (usually applies to sizes 14 and up). If you’d buy clothes in the size they recommend in their size chart, you would end up with clothes that are too big for you. -Every clothing brand, bridal or RTW, has their own size chart and you might be buying a size 8 from one and size 10 from another one. I have also noticed that some companies note that for example the EU size 36 is equivalent to the UK size 10 and others say it’s equivalent to the size 8. -Personal preference plays a part in determining the size as well. One bride might prefer the same style more fitted and someone else a bit looser. -One thing to note as well is that most bridal boutiques don’t have all their sample dresses in all the sizes so you might need to try on a dress that is not the correct size for you. Sizing of clothes in general nowadays is a bit of a messy field as there’s no universal sizing system in place. Just remember that sizes are just vague indicators on which particular piece of clothing is the best one for your body. What matters the most is that, on your wedding day, you wear a dress in which you feel the most beautiful and confident version of yourself. ❤️ 📷 @joe.morley.photo.cinema」1月23日 17時20分 - indiebride.london
