Watching him for a while, I saw he scavenged a few treats, devouring some rice cakes and crackers. I have met many canines along the way like this furry friend. They live by their own terms, finding a good place to live with just enough abundance from those who pass through. Sometimes they are passing guides in the mountains keeping guard over camp, choosing to wander off near the end of your trek sooner than you’d like them to. Sometimes they have found an easier setup than other strays, with little competition, enough food from the land, and plenty of collective care. I’ve developed a real love for tracking the life cycle of ephemeral blessings. These gifts aren’t meant to last beyond the moment.
