Photo by @kiliiiyuyan / A herd of caribou crosses the vast plain of Alaska's Teshekpuk Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Arctic. Teshekpuk is home to one of the great caribou herds, as well as the destination for some of the largest flocks of migratory birds on Earth. In May, pregnant females are on the move and waiting to give birth to their calves. Traveling single-file saves energy so each caribou does not need to break its own trail.
