Photo by Luján Agusti @lujanag / The Danza de los Diablos (Dance of the Devils) is performed on the Costa Chica, between the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero, in what is known as the Afro-Mexican territory. It is a ceremony of rebellion since it has its origins when African people were brought by the colonizers for slavery in America. I took this portrait of a devil from the Diablos de Coyantes dancing group in Cuajinicuilapa. Today the dance is usually performed during the celebrations of the Day of the Dead. It is powerful and moving.
