Photo by @stephen_matera / A winter morning near Fruita in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. Fall and winter are great times of year to visit Capitol Reef and avoid the scorching heat of summer. Capitol Reef was established as a national park in 1964, but State Highway 24 is the only paved road through the park. Much of the rest of the park is accessible by dirt road with a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
