I remember in summer of last year, sitting in a cafe, sketching the composition for this diptych painting. The concept of dō is to create beauty care products with the ancient Chinese theory of yin and yang. For there will always be a necessary balance to be maintained. My job was to depict that through my painting composition, as my painting would be the design for the packaging. This final composition was the third version. I’m very happy with how it turned out. When @misatomto first reached out to me about collaborating on this and shared with me the dō concept and brand colors, I was so pleasantly surprised to see that it all aligned with my personal values and ethics. Not to mention I’d already been using this exact color palette in my own paintings. I knew it was meant to be. I must mention that when I first started pursuing fine art seriously and would think about if I ever did anything on the commercial side, I would have loved to create packaging for beauty products. I’m obsessed with packaging design. The endless possibilities of telling a story. I would daydream about it. I cannot share this story without sharing my experience with deliberate manifestation. This project is indeed the fruit of the seeds I had sown almost 4 years ago. For me, nothing is a coincidence.
