Then I look at the picture and if I’ve captured half the beauty that I saw, then I’ve done my job.”  ———————————————————————————  (Laila here) When I was in art school at The Savannah College of Art & Design @scaddotedu I took an Islamic art and architecture class where I learned about how it was forbidden for man to create anything that was representational of the “creator’s” creations. Essentially one would offend the creator in the attempt at emulating life. Consequently the complexity of the architecture found in mosques and patterned tilework are considered permissible expressions of excellence in artistry without offending the creator.
