The best thing about any significant #SwellStory is that there are so many different stories from so many different places. One of our favorites from this most recent one? Former @oneillusa Wave of the Winter winner Mikey Redd (@mikey.redd) tackling Waimea Bay on a canoe with his brothers and nephews during the peak of the swell on Wednesday.

“I’d rate this swell ten outta ten,” said Mikey. “The conditions were really favorable for the North Shore. I was out at Waimea all day long. The most memorable part of the swell was surfing the canoe out at Waimea with my brothers. That was all-time. I took my 14-year-old nephews out there and was showing them the ropes. Seeing them catch their first waves was a super-memorable experience for me. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it. It’s the best way to ride a wave. The most challenging part is beaching it. That’s tough at Waimea.”
