With a head and tail almost the same size as its body, the southeast Asian big-headed turtle is one odd looking critter. Due to its unique physical structure, this turtle is not a good swimmer, but is well adapted for climbing and walking on rocks. This species will often spend the day under a rock or concealed underwater, surfacing at night to search for food along the stream’s edge.
