As mums, I think we often feel like we need to do things on our own, even when we're struggling. There have been times when I've felt too embarrassed to ask questions for the fear of being judged. I'd look at social media and think that all other mums had their parenting act together, and this made me feel quite lonely because I thought I was the only one carrying this self doubt. As a single mum, I haven't had a partner to turn to for words of encouragement. So many times I feel like I'm just winging it. The @peanut app has been a real game changer for me. Being able to chat with other new mums and read posts about their experiences has made me realise that we're all just winging it! Being part of a community where women are openly sharing their experiences, advice and support, has helped me relax into my role as 'mum'. I've been lucky to have support from family and friends, but sometimes it can be harder to take advice from those you love & easier to get advice from people who don't have any preconceptions about you. The more I've turned to @peanut and spoke about my fears and worries, the more I've felt validated and ultimately, proud of myself for doing the best job I can. Being a new mother is one of the toughest jobs there is and there’s no shame in not having all the answers.
