Photo by @jimrichardsonng / Scottish baronial style got a good go at Ardverikie in the Highlands of Scotland, which is why television shows and movie crews keep coming back. "Monarch of the Glen" fans will recognize its fairy-tale turrets instantly. But "The Crown" also made it stand in for Balmoral for two seasons. Both Miss Marple and Mrs. Brown hung out here, too. Even "Outlander" shot some scenes here, but the era is really not right for Jamie and Claire. Ardverikie isn’t ancient. Dating back only to its rebuilding after a fire, it was finished in 1878. No matter; it looks the part of a proper Scottish estate castle.
