Christie’s Hong Kong is proudly reuniting three prominent artists of the New School of Paris in the upcoming Modern and Contemporary Art Evening sales on 2 December.

Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun and Georges Mathieu are amongst the many artists who gathered in the French capital in the years following World War II, drawn by the city’s reputation as the center of the art world. The context of emulation and creative effervescence makes the ideal ground to unleash these painters’ audacity and imagination. Zao, Chu and Mathieu create each in their own way an innovative, instinctive and liberated language, breaking the barriers – rendered obsolete – between East and West.
