I have therapy in twenty minutes and I’m tending to my sourdough loaves.

There’s traffic on the road, heading into town. People going to work, my wife one of them. The sun is coming up, filtering through the remaining leaves on the trees in the front garden.

I need to water the plants. I have a project to finish this week, even though I technically took the week “off”, but what’s that as a small business owner? I need to work on the November calendar, because it’s now the fourth and I haven’t done it yet. My to-do list is running and lengthening as my brain slowly wakes as I move slowly around the kitchen.

Adelaide is scurrying around me, getting ready for school. I haven’t made my coffee yet.

Everything is normal and everything isn’t as we wait for results, as lives and normalcy and democracy hangs in the balance.
