My name is Anthony Urso (@anthony_urso) Winnipeg born photographer & explorer, here is my story about how photography helped me fall in love with my city and place that I call home! ⠀ ⠀ I was born in the prairie city of Winnipeg. Manitoba's landscape is about as flat as it gets. Like some in my city, I dreamed of being elsewhere in Canada. I would often say how one day I wanted to leave and move elsewhere, then came along my passion for photography. The job of a photographer is to showcase a subject in its best light. In my case my subject was Winnipeg. As my new passion for photography grew, my task of showing winnipeg in its best light grew too. Soon I was completely obsessed with photography. What started as taking snapshots on my iphone turned into my new passion and career. The act of trying to make something look good, to showcase it in an appealing way was very eye opening for me. After countless hours, days, weeks, and now years of exploring Winnipeg and Manitoba I was able to find the true beauty that might not be seen at a quick glance. Though we don't have mountains, Manitoba has some amazing qualities. ⠀ ⠀ You may see me call Winnipeg the “sunset city” in my posts, this is for good reason. Manitoba's flatness lends itself to some of the best sunsets in the world. Winnipeg consistently has the absolute best sunsets and sunrises that you could ever ask for. We also have amazing architecture in our heritage areas of the city like the Exchange District that you will often see me showcase in my images. I can't forget to mention the thousands of lakes that Manitoba has for you to explore. I am now unbelievably grateful to call Winnipeg home. I have made it my mission to showcase its beauty to its residents and the world through my Images. ⠀ ⠀ Whether you live In the towering mountains, near the vast seas, or the gorgeous prairies, I urge you Canada to get out and explore your backyards, the places you call home!
