Since 2000, the Asian American population in the U.S. has grown by more than 70 per cent, to about 20 million. The group now makes up six per cent of the total population. During this time, the number of registered Asian American voters has doubled. At this rate, by 2055, Asian Americans could be the country’s largest minority group. And yet, neither of the country’s political parties has managed to forge a strong relationship with Asian American voters. Why?
