AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides) was founded by artist Tanya Aguiñiga (@tanyaaguiniga). AMBOS (@ambosproject) seeks to express and document *border emotion* through art made on opposite sides of the US/Mexico border. This project was born out of Aguiñiga’s need to address the ongoing issues that her family and community face. Tanya was raised in Tijuana, México where the border fence cuts into the ocean. She crossed the border every day for 14 years to get an education in the US. Meet our AMBOS team below! 🌞 TANYA AGUIÑIGA, Founder (@tanyaaguiniga) Aguiñiga founder and director of AMBOS, is a San Diego-born, Tijuana-raised, and LA-based artist whose work grapples with the multiple identities that result from growing up on both sides of the border. 🌞 CECILIA BRAWLEY, Project Manager (@cecilliiia) Brawley is a xicana artist and part of the collective Taller Nepantla. In her work she explores liminal spaces and blended cultural identities through performance, collaboration, and intervention. 🌞 NATALIE GODINEZ, Community Outreach Manager (@stellamarine) Godinez is a mother, educator, artist and community advocate. Her work focuses on collaboration, a love for materials and making the world a just place for all. 🌞 GINA CLYNE, Project Photographer (@ginaclyne) Clyne is a photojournalist, shooting art projects and cultural happenings, collaborating with artists and organizations throughout the city of Los Angeles and beyond. 🌞 JACKIE AMÉZQUITA, Project Assistant (@jackieamezquita) Amézquita is a bi-national artist/activist, born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and migrated to the United States in 2003. Her work explores psycho-socio-geographical and political interactivity of different ethnic groups. 🌞 DIANA RYOO, Project Assistant (@dioo_) Ryoo is an art & design educator whose work is rooted in exploring how materials and objects inform our relationships with one another and with our greater communities.
