The client, a wife & mother of three, wanted a simple, clean, relaxing space within the home to function as an escape room. Mixing Scandinavian minimalist oak pieces with textured neutral elements, we were able to achieve just that!⠀ ⠀ First and foremost, the main focus was the pondside of the room. The client expressed the desire to have a space where she could lay down to read a book, take a phone call, or simply nap. With floor to ceiling windows framing the picturesque outdoors, this area felt like the most logical place to create a relaxation zone. I chose forms that would enhance, not distract, from the beautiful nature throughout the seasons. Using an existing chair, I paired a curved and pillowy chaise, drink table and floor lamp in a corner of the room and integrated shearling ottomans as a way to divide the two areas and also provide seating or footstools for guests. ⠀ ⠀ At the dormers, I added @lostine leather pendant lighting, where recessed once resided, and low benches for books, decorative objects and vases. Bedside, I incorporated Scandinavian nightstands with shelving that can be concealed with the ribbed fabric enclosure. Lastly, I finished off the area with a textured cozy rug from @sacco. ⠀ ⠀ Styling this installation was very important to me. I wanted to incorporate local brands, so I rented products from @Minna-goods, Hudson, NY, @100mainst, Falls Village, CT, and @Honeychurchhome in Salisbury, CT.
