We watched the smoke from Jamestown envelope the sky and sweep over the front range. My heart broke as I thought about all of the innocent animals and the families who were directly affected. When I went outside with @moosechaga quarter sized pieces of ash were fluttering down. This morning, I felt an immense wave of gratitude flush over me when we woke up to a cold drizzle. The origin of the fires, as far as I know are still under investigation. However, what is clear is that the prolific nature of the devastation we are witnessing is due to less consistent weather patterns because of the changing climate. In many ways, the warming planet is having a major impact on our day to day lives. My heart goes out to those who lost their homes in the #CalwoodFire which stood at 8,788 acres this morning, likely making it the largest fire in modern Boulder County history.
