I have immense respect for these trees. Each one keeps thousands of years of history, being one of the longest living life-forms on the planet. They grow at about 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) high. This particular one is frequently visited by travelers and some assume it's dead, which is not correct. I hope we all respect these impressive trees by staying on the trail and not walking on the soil around their fragile extended roots.
