For a good portion of my career, that is at least how I treated Training my Mind; something that was not as pressing as training my body. Yet, when I think about it; that makes no sense. Our minds control such a significant portion of our performance. I began going to therapy about 3 years ago. I go at least twice a month, and I find that it is an important element of my life, not just to prepare for my physical endeavors mentally, but also to be more in touch with who I am, at the roots of it beyond just a climber, and to learn to stand in my own power. Therapy has helped deepen relationships in my life, including my relationship with myself. It has not always been a linear progression. This summer, I went from having never had surgery, and never taken more than a month off of climbing, to having to have 4 big surgical operations that have flattened me, and required me to build back from something that often felt like less than 0, twice. I am still in the middle of this process, and it has not been easy for me. The outdoors are a major component of my life and exercise alone is my tool to manage anxiety and stress. Having that stripped has been a new challenge, and I am so thankful for the sports psychologist and therapist I have to work through this. One of my closest friends, @suzu__soozoo has just launched a climbing specific sports psychology practice. She has been a major influence in my life, and if you’re interested in her work, check her out at summitsofthemind.com Photo by @timbanfield last summer in the #Banff region.」10月1日 5時04分 - sashadigiulian
