Video by @amivitale / Happy World Rhino Day! Twelve months after the first ever ovum pick-up was conducted on Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos on the planet, three viable embryos are now in existence thanks to an incredible team of scientists from Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (@leibnizizw), #Avantea, @OlPejeta Conservancy, @KenyaWildlifeService, and @SafariParkDvurKralove. The hope is to implant these embryos into southern white rhino surrogates in the near future. Here is Najin grazing the day after the most recent ovum pick-up procedure. Three in total have been conducted.
