Fall foliage approaches peak this weekend on the slopes of Asahidake volcano, the highest mountain (2291 m) in Daisetsuzan National Park. The first place in Japan to see fall colors and snow each autumn, Daisetsuzan (meaning "great snowy mountains"), is located in the center of the northern most island of Hokkaidō.
