This week last, but definitely not least, we want you to meet the Saint Louis Story Stitchers Artists Collective. A collective of professional artists and minority youth (ages 16-24) working together to create social change with a focus on gun violence prevention. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Stitchers collect stories, reframe and retell them through art, writing and performance to promote understanding, civic pride, intergenerational relationships and literacy.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The work of the Collective is authentic, powerful and raw. It captures and documents important Black history pieces through written word and art, including poetry, photography and video recordings, while training the next generation to become active, engaged citizens.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ It's a safe space to gather, share cultural experiences, meaningful self-expression methods, and character education through weekly meetings, in-school assembly programs, community building, and live performances.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Support, get involved, share and carry the torch forward to support at-risk youth in your own community as well.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ To see what Story Stitchers have been up to so far this year, swipe across and be sure to join them for the ‘RISE UP’ with five new podcasts on StitchCast Studio starting August 28th.
