Instead of a cute caption I wanted to share an important post I found from @ohioma (swipe to read) reminding us of being cognisant of the line between optimism and erasure.
Comments like “turns out 2020 isn’t so bad” erase the pain and suffering BIPOC are facing disproportionally from this pandemic, police brutality and systematic racism.
I will continue to listen and learn, be actively aware of the power of voice and not live in denial of my white privilege.
I can celebrate the joys in life and be grateful everyday for my blessings as well as taking the time to educate myself to not erase, silence or ignore the continued suffering and inequality BIPOC face everyday.
And yes my next post might be a cute caption but I will actively do my best to not be insensitive to others. And to clarify This post is NOT about cancelling anyone’s joy. But I hope it’s a reminder or a new view point from @ohioma you may not have considered or been made aware of before.
