Take a break from the August heat with this flashback to winter at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in #Wisconsin. With amazing kayaking, diving, fishing and hiking, it's a delight in the summer, but winter at #ApostleIslands offers a chance to see something unique. When conditions are just right, the waters of #LakeSuperior freeze over close to shore and allow people to walk across the surface and explore the ice caves. Massive icicles hang from the hang off the cliffs and form curtains and columns of ice. Just thinking about the winter splendor cools us down at little.
