The Mekong Delta is one of the world’s great rice bowls, producing over half the country’s the rice crop (making Vietnam the third largest rice exporter in the world behind Thailand and the United States) and supporting 15 million people — one quarter the population of this, the most densely populated country in Southeast Asia.
