In the middle of the night, I would find myself scaling up the flimsy rope ladders, holding on for dear life, as the boat sometimes swayed back and forth relentlessly from the large rolling waves deep at sea. After reaching the tiny crow’s nest platform above the sails, I would try and lock my leg or arm onto something (so I wouldn’t fall into the depths of the ocean if I fell asleep) and I would spend hours looking up at one of the best views I have ever seen of the Milky Way Galaxy.

At first I was frustrated that I couldn’t get my camera out to capture the stars because we were on a moving boat, but I ended up loving those simple nights alone, with no cell service, looking up at stars and planets while sailing through one of the most beautiful destinations in the world.
