She is working on creating an educational program to teach skaters, athletes, parents, and officials about nutrition and how to better take care of their bodies. BUT... Let me tell you something that ENGRAGES me. Carrie Aprik alongside ONE other dietitian are the ONLY ones working for US Figure Skating and they AREN’T even full time employees, but CONTRACTORS. US Figure Skating, an association who in 2018-2019 had 202 THOUSAND members. An association that sends 126 athletes internationally can only spare 2 CONTRACTED dietitians to work for them. A sport where almost every other girl has most likely faced some sort of disorder like behavior with food should have a WHOLE TEAM working for them to help create and drive this educational program forward. Another thing Carrie mentioned which was concerning was that since COVID hit, funds are low and may be redistributed. WE AS WOMEN NEED TO FIGHT FOR OUR DIETITIANS AND NUTRITIONISTS.
