"It took three years and more euros than expected to make the house habitable,” says interior designer and ED A-lister Bill Brockschmidt on the process of designing this Modica home. Brockschmidt purchased and re-imagined the unique space with his partner, architectural designer Richard Dragisic. Originally, with no electricity or plumbing, the pair completely restored and decorated the interiors, leaving things like vaulted stone ceilings and cave walls in tact. A guest room, pictured, has a bed topped with an Indian quilt from Etsy, a 19th-century Austrian chair, and an antique Sicilian table.
