Artist Jenny Holzer (@jennyholzerstudio) and online community Avante Art (@avant.arte) have launched URGE AND URGE AND URGE to highlight the ongoing fight against AIDS.⁠

The artwork will raise money for the @nycaidsmemorial. It consists of condoms in a handblown recycled-glass pharmacy jar, their wrappers emblazoned with some of Holzer’s signature phrases, such as “PROTECT ME FROM WHAT I WANT,” “EXPIRING FOR LOVE IS BEAUTIFUL BUT STUPID,” and “MEN DON’T PROTECT YOU ANYMORE,” as well as excerpts from Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself”.⁠

Captured in this video is a mobile intervention that the artist has also created, which passed through NYC this week pausing at historical sites around the city - a truck outfitted with LED screens.⁠

The lion’s share of the proceeds raised by URGE AND URGE AND URGE will go to support educational and cultural programs, as well as the ongoing maintenance of the New York City AIDS Memorial.⁠

Speaking of her involvement in the project, Jenny Holzer simply said: “REMEMBER LOVE.” Something for us all to hold on to during these times.⁠
