Summer semester is way more intense than I anticipated... didn’t really appreciate what 16 weeks of work crammed into 5 would feel like 😅 and I signed up for five classes total 😩🤓 Luckily they didn’t all happen at once. I’ve been getting through each day tired but happy, and mentally fulfilled. I love school !! and genuinely mean that, which is kind of nuts to think about compared to my previous college experience (I dropped out in 2010). . I’d never thought of myself as a good classroom student and for years said that school wasn’t for me. I thought I wasn’t smart enough to learn “in that way”. But a few years off (i.e. nearly a decade 😂) and some life experience gave me confidence to re-examine that mindset. I don’t think you need college to be successful but I returned for two reasons: . 1) I wanted to challenge the assumption of not being smart enough and, more importantly, 2) I found a subject I am truly passionate about!! 📚📖Communication of all natures, from interpersonal to conflict to leadership and beyond, is something I can learn about forever and help others develop their abilities as well. . Climbing is still a huge part of my life but today’s national and global events are HOVERING. Racism, fascism, fake news, the pandemic....It’s history in the making, history that’s already been written and will write itself again if we don’t arm ourselves with knowledge AND initiative. Education is a stepping stone towards bigger change. . What’s been the most impactful lesson you’ve learned this year?
