グッゲンハイム美術館さんのインスタグラム写真 - (グッゲンハイム美術館Instagram)「#GuggenheimAtLarge: In the third installment of the Guggenheim Circular, we’re exploring the theme of “Home” through artworks that make people reconsider their most immediate surroundings. ⠀ “‘Series of Vulnerable Arrangements—Voice and Wind’ by Korean artist Haegue Yang (@yanghaegue) presents a grouping of suspended aluminum venetian blinds that conjure a domestic space. Surrounding industrial fans cause these everyday objects to sway gently; they also disperse chemically made scents from mass-produced emitters. By incorporating these fragrances, which have names like Buddha Temple and Ocean Mist, Yang critiques commercial attempts to artificially manufacture cultural experiences and points to exoticizing colonial stereotypes. The blinds, in their mazelike configuration, simultaneously section the space and divide viewers from each other. In doing so, Yang creates a multisensory landscape that is neither inside nor outside, neither private nor public, to invoke the vulnerable state of being in between places.
