I was really good at staying home and now, I’m finding that adjusting to everything reopening is confusing. Long Island is currently in Phase 4 and New York City is moving to Phase 4 tomorrow. It feels very strange as other states are going in the opposite direction. And scary, because I can’t imagine a scenario where we won’t take a step back. Do I get my haircut now because I might not be able to come September? I find myself at home second guessing myself— am I being responsible or lazy by staying in? I think about all the time the kids spend on the couch watching TV and playing Roblox. Is this me being a good mom or a bad mom? Because we left the city, we aren’t really part of a community here, so we can’t just walk outside and see our friends. Our bubble family went away to visit relatives for a few weeks. Is it okay to take a road trip to a friend’s house and spend the weekend? “The Rules” say yes. Can I trust the rules?? Our world for so long has just been our house. We’ve been okay with that.
