For the sixth episode of The ShibShow (@shibshow), we talked to Johann Olav Koss. Johann is a 4x Olympic Champion in speed skating, and the Founder of Right To Play (@righttoplayintl), an organization that harnesses the power of play to protect, educate, and empower children around the world (14 countries and 72 refugee camps). RTP’s work helps children heal and rise above the harsh realities of war and abuse, protect themselves from disease, go to school, graduate, and create a better future for themselves and their communities.
Later in the episode, we also spoke to Patrick Nyeko, one of RTP's Program Directors in Tanzania. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we were unable to capture our conversation, but Patrick recorded his answers and we included them after our conversation with Johann. He explains how the organization is implementing COVID-19 response plans to urgently address the needs of children in three key areas: hygiene and disease prevention, continued learning, and emotional support.
