Side saddling in a vaguely Edwardiana outfit before going on Zoom for #ChanelHauteCouture and yet another virtual frow session- @veronikaheilbrunner @bagsnob (who wore Chanel in her bed for the 5am call Texas time) and @yoyokulala @declanchan in Singapore/HK

Prior to the show @シャネル said the “digital” assets for haute couture would differ from the Cruise last month
“What is important is to keep the dream alive, never compromise on the level of creation.”

Today we got maybe an even more sparse presentation. Two models, thirty looks, socially distanced shoot to showcase garments in motion. Crystal clear.

These were @virginie.viard ‘s “punk princesses” hanging out at Le Palace in Paris with Karl. Ostensibly this very “Karl” collection was also to the point and client-ready.

As we pored over the pictures and very short video, which in itself is a very simple format of presentation, it was interesting how the clothes really stood out . Having no digital frills worked. Which would we order if we had the funds? The tweed off shoulder mini dress ? The tweed tunic and flares? The diaphanous puff sleeved gown? The Whit Stillman Metropolitan taffeta numbers ? The Massaro lace-up shoes?

A dream rooted in clothes and not surreal fantasies. That’s not to say one trumps the other. Just interesting how the titans of haute couture this week have gone down such different routes.
