Much of the scenery in Iceland seems to have this very effect, but this was different. Looking down from almost 500 meters (1,640 feet) into the winding rivers and valleys, I could see how remarkable this place is. This is one of the most popular and moderately difficult hikes that Thórsmörk has to offer, but at the end of the climb you are rewarded with a panoramic view of the magical landscape. The mountain ridge is named after the Norse god Thor, and it sits between the Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers.
