In 1983, Australian salvage diver Martin Daly discovered a veritable treasure trove of perfect waves in Sumatra’s Mentawai Islands. He swore a blood oath to keep the place secret. But during a trip in 1992, a mate asked to bring along some friends, including two-time World Champion Tom Carroll, Ross Clarke-Jones and Martin Potter. Martin Daly said “yes” — and the rest is history.⁣
