Let’s go LA. It’s #pride. And there would be no pride without Marsha P Johnson, a black trans woman who led the uprising at Stonewall, to demand an end to the police brutality suffered by the LGBTQA community. It was a revolution. It was the beginning of national awareness in the fight for equal rights for the queer community. “No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us,” Marsha famously said. And as we examine the landscape of our world today — as we are faced with the ugly truths about police brutality being a public health crisis — we must also scream from the rooftops that the murders of black trans women are a public health crisis too. The murders of trans folks are a public health crisis! Justice must be had for all, or it is not just. Today, and every day, let us say #AllBlackLivesMatter.
