In addition to it being #Pride month, it’s also #BlackMusicMonth. Which is kind of whatever because we celebrate pride every day and we celebrate and listen to black music every day. I’ve been really really lucky throughout my career to work with amazing black artists and musicians. And I’ve recorded a lot of black music. A lot! I have Billie Holiday looking over my shoulder in this video and in real life, besides my piano. She changed my life. All the songs, I think I got them all, that I’ve covered or performed by black artists, I’ve put the originals of those songs on my top tracks playlist. I’m sure you’ve heard most if not all of them but please go check it out and dig deep into the catalog of these artists.
