I am the product of a hispanic woman and a black man. My father left my mother and I at a young age. A few years later, my hispanic mother was brutally murdered at gunpoint by a black man. I am the only living witness...those are the ONLY two influential black men I can remember from my childhood. Those two black men DO NOT represent all black men. I was never explicitly taught that they represented all black men, but the world around me never taught me that they didn’t. My whole life I was ashamed of who I was, scared of who I was, and never understood who I was. Before bed I would pray to God that I wouldn’t be black anymore and every morning I would wake up...still black. I didn’t “grow up black” as I was raised by the hispanic side of my family. I constantly had questions that I felt I couldn’t ask and things I didn’t understand about myself. Why I looked the way I did and why I didn’t look like most of the other kids at school. #blacklivesmatter」6月5日 7時54分 - mrmontyjackson
