It’s that simple Since when has it been controversial to stand up against racism, sexism, homophobia? This should be the norm. Sadly,You know what is normal? Some police officers getting away with murder/excessive force because they wear a badge when anyone of us would be in prison,POC not being enough in society unless they show they are ‘exceptional’ & more than they need to be. POC being seen as threats or less than others due to the systemic racism suffered by this country. Growing up in England I once got lost as a child, I found the nearest police man as my mum taught me to & he safely took me to her. As a grown man I would honestly fear calling the police to my house if I had an intruder for fear of them shooting me instead because of my appearance. If Some of you may think that’s excessive, that’s not excessive, that’s privilege. When driving & see a police car,I roll down my window, remove my sunglasses & music & smile to show I’m not a ‘threat’. Thoughts run through my head like ;is my insurance valid, registration, should I start filming my speedo as evidence? I am guilty of nothing but have to go above & beyond to prove so. Nothing will change without action from top to bottom. Police need to face consequences like any other civilian would, a badge doesn’t make you right or immune. Your mantra is ‘protect and serve’, why do I feel like this needs a question mark at the end? We all need to come together as humans to battle the real virus tearing this country apart. Covid-19 arrived & look how quickly this country reacted because it threatened YOU, well racism has been taking lives for a lot longer. There is no room for racism, if you’re offended by that, speaking against white supremists or people taking a knee against police brutality, you’re probably racist or need educating on the situation. POC arnt asking for more rights, they’re asking for the same. You don’t lose a thing but we gain a normal life with hope. We’re a long way from this as I see people protest today as they did 60 years ago, Women, the lgbtq2 community have all suffered oppression & ridicule too. It’s time for change, it’s time for action,
