After a two hour trek through a dense forest we reached the crest of this mountain greeted by crazy winds and below freezing temperatures. My hands were so numb I couldn’t even spin the filter off of my lens, but we explored the area a while, watched the last bit of sun glowing off the peak of the volcano, and tried not to slip on ice as we carefully made our way back down to sea level in the dark. Winter is definitely setting in here in New Zealand and the heat waves that are happening back home in California look enticing, but @gypsealaysea and I think we’ll stay here and and keep exploring a little longer...
