For 17 years I’ve had this routine of waking up, going to work, and rehearsing or performing all day long. I felt the first blow of this pandemic when @bostonballet‘s Opening Night of Carmen was cancelled just as we had finished our rehearsal. The next blow came when our whole season was cancelled. There were many ballets I looked forward to dancing, and the disappointment of not dancing them was overwhelming. During this time, as well as taking classes, working out, and still trying to create, I have been working closely with our Union, AGMA, (as I am one of our reps) and the company to ensure our dancers were supported during this time. I have seen the toll this pandemic has taken and will take on the arts community/ballet community as a whole. That all aside, I just miss being around my colleagues and people, in general; I miss being busy, running from studio to studio, preparing for challenging roles, and arriving home exhausted from an incredibly hard day. Obviously, art and dance are my career, but also my therapy, and I believe art serves in that same way to the world ... I know that we will all make it through this uncertain time, and we will come out the other side of this with an even bigger appreciation of what art and dance offer us. And we really are in this together, so I am asking people to please consider donating to an arts organization near you or to Boston Ballet’s recovery fund: Go to @msliac or @bostonballet for Boston Ballet’s recovery fund link. - Lia Cirio principal ballerina at the Boston Ballet #liacirio @msliac #bostonballet #ballet #dance #ballerina #alonebuttogether #ballerinaproject」5月2日 0時15分 - ballerinaproject_
