ballerina projectさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ballerina projectInstagram)「Before all of this happened I was working on Swan Lake. The most iconic ballet. I was so excited and eager, but all of that came to a vault. Art heals. Being an artist means forever healing your own wounds and at the same time exposing them. Covid-19 has completely shaken my world up side down. I yearn so much to be in the studio working and creating beautiful things to heal this world and to heal myself. Art elevates humanity, culture and society. Our art form is built on togetherness: the magical moment when artist and audience share an experience all in one place. Covid-19 has completely halted our ability to be together, and while there are novel ways to create online content and new ways for us to tell the world about what we do, nothing can ever replace that moment when the lights dim, the curtain goes up, and we are inside a new universe...together. The Washington Ballet has a fundraiser right now called ‘Stronger Than Ever,’ born from the concept that the artists and organization can be protected for as long as possible while our business model has taken a complete pause. Donating to the fund is a symbolic way to show that you feel the way we do, you believe in our art, and you are a champion to help ballet thrive the minute we can open our stage and studio doors. - Nardia Boodoo ballerina with the Washington Ballet.
