The biggest bulls can grow antlers that are six feet (1.8 meters) across and weigh more than 40 pounds (18 kilograms). Like other members of the deer family, moose grow and shed their antlers every year, with all the growing occurring in just a five-month period. Having the biggest antlers helps males achieve reproductive success.
