Here we see a performer doing a dance representing the goddess Ewa. Orixá Ewá is the personification of transformation. She is the protector of all that is virgin, pure, and unexplored. The Nigerian goddess of the Yewá River, she guards over clairvoyance and the cycle of life, through the processes of metamorphosis in nature and humans. Ewá is dressed in bright red, and adorns herself with lots of shells, showing her taste for the exotic and the sophisticated. “HIHÓ EWÁ !“
