When you’re really against the ropes, there isn’t time to shout into the void or wallow. Instead, energy is spent fighting nonstop to try to make things work.  I hope we can continue to be compassionate and understand that right now, everyone is dealing with uncertainty, disappointment, and problems.  3 things that can be done today:  Stay home (if you can). It’s imperative that we act now so that our hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. Practicing proper hygiene and taking precautions for yourself means that you are slowing the spread of this pandemic. Think of how your actions directly affect people who are at higher risk.  Donate what you can to trusted organizations that depend on our help to continue serving those in need. It meant a lot that many of you chose to join me in supporting @feedingamerica. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do!  Finally, consider taking the time to check in with people you know (text/call/FaceTime). From experience, I know that when things are tough, it is very easy to feel alone. Post-surgery, I experienced a form of social distancing. Things improved for me mentally and emotionally when I was grateful and made the choice to stay connected. Sometimes I think we need to remember that if we have the time to complain or feel disappointed, that in itself is a luxury. When you’re really against the ropes, there isn’t time to shout into the void or wallow. Instead, energy is spent fighting nonstop to try to make things work.
