When I set out to make a documentary on this topic almost four years ago, it seemed the only stories about humans with implantable brain devices existed in entertainment like Black Mirror & Westworld. Meanwhile, what was happening in the real world seemed far more interesting than fiction. And so, @iamhumanfilm was made. The documentary tells the origin stories of three of the first real-world “cyborgs” in intimate detail - Bill, Anne and Stephen - and the larger implications of this technology that will transform society beyond our wildest dreams. We can’t have a thoughtful conversation about the future of brain computer interfaces without understanding the faces at the forefront of this technology. In the film, you’ll meet Bill, paralyzed in a biking accident, Anne, an artist afflicted with Parkinson’s, and Stephen, a retiree with a late stage disease that caused sudden blindness. Their brave and emotional journeys, coupled with interviews and insights from top scientists and entrepreneurs in the field, will likely leave you with more questions than answers - and a more nuanced understanding of what’s at stake in the next decade. . . . One of the last opportunities to see the film on the big screen in Los Angeles is Wednesday, February 12th at 7pm at the Downtown Independent, in collaboration with @mindshareLA! We have an incredibly special post screening panel that you don’t want to miss. Join myself, esteemed CalTech neuroscientist Tyson Aflalo, neurotech CEO/founder Bryan Johnson, and special guest Nancy Smith, a teacher who has been front and center to CalTech and UCLA research after being paralyzed from a head-on auto accident. The panel will be moderated by Mindshare founder @dougielux. I hope to see you there - link to tickets in my bio!」2月1日 3時06分 - tarynsouthern
