I can still go to the US anytime I want!!” ⁣ ⁣ 🤓😅🙃 ⁣ ⁣ Currently looking for an immigration attorney. I was reminded today of the IMMENSE privilege I have. It’s beyond, really. I was able to fly myself to the nearest consulate, I could bring my husband along, I speak the language and I know that the country I was born in, the color of my skin and my education along with my financial status meant I was treated a certain way all the way through - and it means I can have my visa denied and still feel quite calm about it. For the majority of people struggling with their immigration and visa status right now, that is not the case. I don’t have to risk my family’s life on a boat or walk for hundreds of miles because I’m fleeing war or persecution - I just want to continue to live with the same freedom I was privileged enough to be born into through my Swedish citizenship. ⁣ ⁣ Freedom is a privilege. Being 31 years old and applying for a proper visa for the first time in your life is a privilege. ⁣ ⁣ I learned a lot today. Much of it was painful to watch. Will share on pod. x」1月22日 4時17分
